Default Microsoft Extends XP for Business

Despite ending support for Windows XP SP2 today, Microsoft has announced an extension of downgrade rights for business users.

According to Microsoft, 74% of businesses still use XP, despite its age. While some credit this to the cost of upgrading an entire network and the additional staffing for IT departments that would necessitate, it's also due in large part to the lack of success Vista had in the business arena.

As Windows 7 continues to gain in popularity and market share, XP's numbers shouldstart to dwindle, but until Microsoft offers something that's a true and significantadvancement over XP, don't expect many businesses to make the switch.
